Padhai Pehla Kadam Hai
Giving first-generation girls their first books, first classroom.

When a Girl Learns, Generations Rise
Across rural India and underserved urban communities, young girls continue to leave school before they even reach their teens. It’s not because they lack interest — it’s because they lack support. Kamayani Foundation started “Padhai Pehla Kadam Hai” to change this. We don’t see education as a charity — we see it as the first brick in a future that’s still waiting to be built. From school kits to emotional follow-up, we make sure that once a girl begins learning, she doesn’t stop — not because of money, not because of tradition, and certainly not because no one stood by her. Every donation you make doesn’t just support a girl — it rewrites the story of her entire family.

Fees Can’t Decide Her Fate
Too often, we meet bright, curious girls who dropped out because of a ₹500 exam fee or the cost of a bus ride. For families that live day to day, even a notebook feels like a luxury. That’s why our support goes beyond the first term — we commit to walking with her for years. We cover school fees, transport, exam costs, and remedial coaching when needed. We also handle follow-ups, because continuity is key. A one-time scholarship means little if she has to drop out next year. Our commitment is long-term — like her dream should be.

The Right Bag, The Right Message
Dignity in school matters. A torn uniform, missing shoes, or borrowed notebooks can quietly kill a child’s confidence. That’s why we don’t just give basic help — we give full, proud kits. Each girl receives a well-made bag, two uniforms, shoes, socks, and all stationery. Why? Because when she walks in with her head held high, she feels she belongs there. She’s no longer “the poor girl” in the corner. She becomes a student. A leader. A child ready to learn, not hide.

Learning Goes Beyond Classrooms
School is just the beginning. Real education also means knowing your rights, understanding your body, and feeling safe in public. That’s why our campaign includes workshops on menstrual health, self-confidence, and digital awareness. We help older girls learn how to use a computer, fill a form, or ask questions. When she knows how to speak up, how to protect herself, and how to plan her next step — that’s when education becomes power. And that’s what we’re here for.
You don’t have to be a policymaker to change a life. ₹750 can buy a year’s worth of notebooks. ₹3,000 can gift a girl her first complete school kit. ₹5,000 can cover annual school fees for a child whose dreams are stuck behind locked doors. But even more than the money, your belief travels with her — from her doorstep to her classroom, and from her textbook to her future.
